Mauquoy Token Company and the revival of the bread tokens

In the history of bread making, we see in the 1920s-1940s  the use of bread and milk tokens.

They were traditionally used so families could budget their money and trade them in for fresh bread.

Grizzly Bagel is a company in New Zealand. They previously sold wholesale breads and at a local farmers market under the name “Grizzly Bagel”. But they are opening a store in the new year and want to shorten their name to just “Grizzly”, since they make much more than just bagels now.

A design studio in New Zealand called “McCarthy Studio” is specialized in company branding and they developed a new brand for their bakery company.

A fresh new brand was designed for them and as a part of it bread tokens were made.

Grizzly wants to run a bit of a loyalty reward system where you get stamps on a card and after you’ve purchased a certain amount of loaves of bread from them, they’ll give customers a token that they can cash in for a free loaf of artisan bread.

This is a very nice example of loyalty tokens (“talers”).
